Discord Themes

You can download diferent themes that make Discord look diferent from the internet. The only thing you need to have for using a Discord Theme is the BetterDiscord extension.

Downloading Themes and applying them

1. First you have to install the Discord app. If you already have downloaded Discord you should check if you are on the newest version.
2. Download the BetterDiscord extension from this Website and then follow the intalling steps
3. Find Themes on the BetterDiscord Website https://betterdiscord.app/themes. If you have found a theme you would like to apply Download the theme from the Website.
4. Now you will have to go into your Discord settings and into the themes section. There you will have to click “Open Themes Folder” and drag the Downloaded file into it. (Picture 1)
5. Now you will have to enable the theme in the settings. (Picture 2)

Coding your own theme

Basics

• Create a file with the name [FileName].theme.css
• Drag it into your Themes folder (explained above)
• Discord is an Electron App which means you can use the chrome Dev tools using “ cmd+option+i ”. This is useful to find out HTML classes for diferent objects
• BetterDiscord changes the CSS of the original Discord file and “overwrites” it

The first thing you will have to add is the Meta data, that includes the Name of your Theme, the description, the author and the version of the Theme. Your Code editor might show this as false code but it works trust me.

The next thing you will have to add is the :root bracket. In the root bracket you can add diferent variables that will change the looks of your Discord. It will be structured like this:

This piece of code changes the background color to black. There are many diferent other Variables that will change something in your code.

Make a custom home icon

This is an example for a piece of code that will change your Discord Icon to a GIF or an icon. The Icon will have to be square. The code is explained in the comments of the code.

Кроме того, для приложения Discord разработана уникальная дополнительная утилита – Better Discord, о ней мы говорили в одном из наших предыдущих обзорах. Цель создания данного софта – возможность внесения в надоедливый интерфейс новых, уникальных элементов дизайна.

При помощи Better Discord пользователи могут вносить изменения в режимы отображения некоторых объектов, пополнять перечень смайликов новыми мордашками, стикерами, изменять темя для Discord и прочих приложений, используемых на этой платформе.

Более того, имея навыки в программировании, Better Discord позволяет создать свою собственную тему.

Установка тем в Discord

Чтобы внести изменения в интерфейс приложения Discord, необходимо выполнить следующие действия:

Для начала следует скачать дополнительный софт – Better Discord и установить его на свое персональное устройство.

После этого находим в сети Интернета набор новых тем для Discord, которые вам больше всего нравятся, и скачиваем их. А, и да, не забывайте перед скачиванием таких дополнений проверять их на наличие вирусных программ. В противном случае это может угрожать безопасности вашего ПК.

После скачивания файлов, их необходимо распаковать в соответствующую папку в каталоге Better Discord.

Теперь нам необходимо запустить сам Discord и перейти в настройки пользователя – это небольшой значок шестеренки рядом с ником в нижней левой части экрана.

Внизу, если Better Discord установился правильно, появится дополнительный набор функций изменения дизайна приложения.

Открываем вкладку Themes – тут должны находиться все скаченные вами готовые темы.

Остается только выбрать тему, отметить ее галочкой и сразу же на экране отобразятся изменения фона.

Делаем темы для Discord самостоятельно

Итак, как было сказано ранее, с помощью Better Discord пользователь данной программы имеет возможность создать свою собственную тему, оформив мессенджер в индивидуальном стиле.

Как же сделать свою тему:

1. Запускаем Discord с уже установленным в нем дополнением Better Discord.
2. Заходим в дополнение и выбираем вкладку Custom CSS.
3. После этого открывается окно с полем для введения программного кода.
4. Вводим туда написанный код – его можно написать самостоятельно или же найти на форумах в Интернете.
5. Кликаем по кнопке Update и вуаля, тема изменена.

Как сделать Discord better

Если вы пользуетесь Discord, наверняка вам хотелось улучшить его в некоторых аспектах. Обидно, что далеко не всегда разработчики дают возможность это сделать официально. Так, например, без использования подписки Nitro очень большое количество возможностей остается простым смертным заблокировано, хоть и не представляет собой ничего сверхъестественного (та же отправка эмодзи, даже не стикеров, в не связанные с ними чаты или использование .gif в качестве аватарки).

Исправить эти и многие другие несправедливости, а также расширить возможности оригинала создан BetterDiscord и его разделы с плагинами и темами.

BetterDiscord является расширением, устанавливаемым поверх клиента и добавляющим поддержку плагинов с темами. Большую часть текста я уделю именно плагинам, ибо там действительно есть о чем поведать, а о темах будет лишь один пункт.

2 — Запускаем .exe и устанавливаем версию в соответствии со своим Discord (Release, Public Test Build, Canary)

3 — Перезагружаем Discord, если тот не сделал это сам

4 — Готово, в настройках появились новые пункты

1 — Запускаем установщик (неожиданно, да?)

2 — Удаляем установленную версию (опять в соответствии со своим Discord)

3 — Удаляем папку C:\Users\имя_пользователя\AppData\Roaming\BetterDiscord

4 — Осознаем, чего лишились :/

Они меняют интерфейс Discord на что-либо более свежее. Есть и простые, где присутствую только измененные цвета, есть и посложнее (прозрачные, с перенесенными вверх серверами и прочее подобное), а также кастомные, которые вы сами вправе настроить перед загрузкой и установкой.

3 — Кидаем тему в папку C:\Users\имя_пользователя\AppData\Roaming\BetterDiscord\themes
(можно открыть через меню Темы в настройках самого Discord)

4 — Всё в тех же настройках тем активируем то, что хотим

1 — Отключаем тему в настройках Discord

2 — Удаляем файл по пути C:\Users\имя_пользователя\AppData\Roaming\BetterDiscord\themes

— Темы могут конфликтовать между собой, так что лучше ограничиться от одновременного включения нескольких (или использовать те, которые влияют на разные элементы интерфейса)

— Также могут быть конфликты и с плагинами. Конкретно в моем случае правильно работает лишь тема Zelk

Они позволяют получить огромное количество плюшек, таких как нормальный просмотр изображений с увеличением, плеер Spotify в самом Discord, отметка всех сообщений прочитанными и многое другое.

Я пройдусь списком по всем плагинам, которыми пользуюсь сам. На производительность системы, если что, они вообще никак не сказываются (по крайней мере, еще хуже Discord работать не стал. Ну, может, на пару секунд дольше запускатся. )

Однако, перед этим…

3 — Кидаем в папку C:\Users\имя_пользователя\AppData\Roaming\BetterDiscord\plugins (можно открыть через меню Плагины в настройках самого Discord)

4 — Всё в тех же настройках плагинов активируем то, что хотим

1 — Отключаем плагин в настройках Discord

2 — Удаляем файл по пути C:\Users\имя_пользователя\AppData\Roaming\BetterDiscord\plugins

Обязательны для использования части плагинов. При надобности их наличия качаются сами без вмешательства пользователя.

Все они дают возможность через контекстное меню (та штука, что вызывается на ПКМ) редактировать никнеймы пользователей, их статусы и даже аватарки, менять названия ролей, редактировать сервера и каналы. В первую очередь они существуют для организации рабочего пространства и работают исключительно локально (изменению подлежит только то, что видите вы, то есть вы не влияете на информацию на серверах и то, как её видят другие пользователи).

Позволяет просматривать изображения по-человечески. С этим плагином можно забыть о постоянном “открытии оригинала” в браузере благодаря возможности зумить, пользоваться стрелочками для передвижения по “галерее” из всех изображений в чате, видеть дополнительную информацию (кто загрузил, когда, в каком разрешении, под каким названием и сколько занял своей картинкой места на серверах Discord).

По поводу зума. По умолчанию он происходит по нажатию ЛКМ, а вот его настройка — колёсиком мыши (+Shift для изменения размера диаметра окружности…)

With that said, the following guide shows how you can make as well as change your Discord background theme. These steps apply whether you’re on Windows , Mac , or Linux . At the end, there are steps for iPhone and Android devices too.

For now, we suggest finding a Discord theme that suits you. You could download and use ready-made themes . For this, you can find plenty of safe and viable options through the BetterDiscord server .

Besides that, you can create your own Discord theme with the following 2 methods. All you need is a beloved picture of your favourite TV Show, Movie, Game, etc. to set as a background.

Method 1: Creating a Discord Theme through Codedotspectra

Firstly, go to the Discord theme generator at the Codedotspectra website by clicking here .

Then, choose a template to begin designing your Discord theme. For example, we landed on the Neutron theme.

After that, on the left pane, you can make the design changes, and simultaneously preview the changes on the right.

At the top left, there are buttons to change the settings , background image , font , colors and enable add-ons respectively.

As for the font, you can choose one from the vast selection of Google Fonts . So, we suggest visiting Google Fonts and searching which one fits your liking. Then, simply type the font name in the generator.

Finally, to download your theme file, click the Settings icon, enter your theme name , and click the Download button.

Method 2: Making a Discord Theme with the Theme Generator by DevilBro

For starters, you can visit the BetterDiscord Theme Generator page by DevilBro by clicking here .

On this page, you should see all the settings available to change the design of the theme. We suggest starting by finding and choosing a background image that you like.

After that, while making the design settings changes, you can preview the changes by clicking Update Preview .

Once you’ve got your ideal design, click Download .

Steps to Change the Discord Theme With BetterDiscord

Now that you’ve got your Discord theme file, you’ll need to install BetterDiscord to apply the design changes. But before that, you might be wondering:

What is BetterDiscord?

Basically, it’s a third-party software or an extension from the original Discord app. By utilizing Discord’s open API , it allows users and devs to reach the app’s backend to make modifications. Therefore, as the name suggests, its main goal is to make Discord appear “better”.

However, we feel as long as you’re downloading theme files from the right sources you should be fine. Also, as long as you’re not going overboard with the imported add-ons and extensions.

Steps to Install BetterDiscord

With that out of the way, the following are the steps to install BetterDiscord :

1. Firstly, go to the BetterDiscord page on GitHub by clicking here .
2. Then, under BandageBD, depending on the OS your PC is running (Windows, macOS), click the download link for the BetterDiscord Installer.

1. After that, open and run the downloaded BandagedBD.exe file. Click Agree at the License Agreement page.
2. Next, click the icon next to Install BandagedBD .

1. Following that, tick the Install to Stable box and click Install .

Finally, once BetterDiscord has finished installing, the Discord app should restart, and you should see the following message.

Steps to Install Discord Themes with BetterDiscord

With BetterDiscord installed, you can now proceed to install your custom Discord theme (.CSS) that you created or downloaded earlier.

Alternatively, if you’re uncomfortable with installing BetterDiscord, you could change the Discord background theme, within the app setting . The only downside is you’ll be limited to alternate between 2 theme options , dark and light.

Nonetheless, if you only need a minimal design change, then this step can be your go-to.

1. From the Discord client, click the settings icon (⚙️), to access the User Settings .
2. Then, from the left pane, under App Settings, select Appearance .
3. After that, you’ll have the option to change the Theme (Dark, Light) and the Message Display (Cozy, Compact).

Steps to Change the Discord Theme on iPhone and Android

What if you’re using the Discord mobile app? Sadly, there’s no direct option to install or change custom Discord background themes on mobile devices yet.

However, similar to the previous step, you can choose 1 of 2 theme options within the Discord app settings. To navigate to these Discord theme settings:

1. From the Discord app, tap your profile from the bottom bar.
2. After that, scroll down and under App Settings, tap Appearance .

1. On the next page, you’ll have the options to change the Theme , either to Light or Dark .
